FAQ
Here are some of the questions we regularly get asked. If your question isn’t answered here please contact us.
-
I have never been to Impulse Dance before, where do I start?"Have a look at our classes either online or by picking up a class brochure. Choose a class you would like to try, or if you need help deciding, our friendly dance experts are on hand to help you to choose the best class for you. Once you’ve decided, just book online and then come along and give it a go! All classes are booked online via Class4Kids. As we offer trials, its quite likely there will be someone else new in the class too. If you enjoyed your trial session you'll be emailed a link to sign up for the rest of the term.
-
What ages do you take children from?At Impulse Dance, we offer classes for children/young people aged 3 to adults.
-
My child/I has never danced before; do you need any previous dance experience to attend class? No not at all! We have classes to suit all abilities, from complete beginners to classes that are suitable for all so you are welcome to come along even if you’ve never danced before. If in doubt, just ask one of our dance experts to help guide you to the best class for you available in person or by calling 07851 887 826.
-
Is there a free trial? We sometimes hand out vouchers for raffle prizes which include free trials and if you’re lucky enough to find one of our flyers they also include a free trial. Free trials are only given to those who have a valid flyer or voucher with them.
-
How much does it cost? Some of our classes cost different prices, this is determined by the class duration however you’ll be happy to know our prices range from £5-£9.50 with no hidden membership fees.
-
How do I make payment? All classes are booked online via the Class4Kids website where you'll be able to pay by card. Simply just choose the class you'd like to attend and book your trial session.
-
Do you offer any discounts?Yes, from time to time we offer class discounts. These will be emailed to you.
-
Are classes inclusive for children with disabilities?Yes, absolutely, everyone is welcome to any of our classes and we will work with you to meet your access needs. If you can, please discuss your access requirements before the class with any Impulse staff member.
-
Can I join a class at any time?Yes of course! Our classes are on a drop-in basis so you can book any class on any day/time/ability that suits you. You can either book your space on the day or in advance, online.
-
How do I know which class is most suitable for my child? All our sessions are broken down into age-specific sessions so your child is able to learn and make friends with children the same age. Your class choice also depends on which style of dance you’d like your child to learn.
-
How do I sign up? Do I have to book in advance? As we need to know how many children we’ll be expecting on the day, all classes must be booked in advanced. We also recommend you book in advance so that you can be notified of any changes or (in the likely event) if the class is cancelled. All enrolment forms are filled in online via Class4Kids.
-
Can I change my trial class if I’m unable to attend?Yes, we appreciate that from time to time plans change and you may not be able to make a trial class as booked. We require you to give us at least 24hrs notice if you would like to transfer your trial class to another date.
-
What should my child wear?At Impulse it is not compulsory to wear a uniform/specific dancewear for most classes, so please come along in something loose, comfortable and easy to move in e.g. jogging bottoms and a t-shirt, and a jumper so you can take layers off once you start to get warm. For some classes we may advise to wear certain uniform and footwear e.g. ballet shoes for ballet classes however for all other classes we recommend trainers/plimsolls. We also sell our own branded uniform which is available to buy at anytime.
-
What do we need to bring? All we ask for you to bring is a water bottle to stay hydrated. We ask our Saturday Baby Ballet/Baby Street to bring a small snack e.g. an apple. Feel free to bring your favourite teddy along too and a smile of course!
-
Is there any parking at the venues? All our venues have free parking, however spaces are sometimes limited so please arrive early to find a space.
-
Can I sit and watch my child’s class?Unfortunately, unless a class is sold as admitting one adult and one child, children must be confident enough to take part without a parent present. Often it is more distracting for the child if the parent/carer is in the room and children soon participate happily once the class gets started! We do however have waiting areas outside the studios for you to wait.
-
Can I leave my child in their class and pick them up later?Yes, for classes where children attend without an adult, parents/carers are welcome to leave the building and collect their children after class.
-
Can I take photos/film my child in class? No, we don’t allow anyone to film or take photos in class except Impulse staff. From time to time we may film or take photographs during your class or workshop for publicity and promotional materials and opportunities, whether print, online or broadcast. When you book classes and workshops at Impulse we will ask for your consent for photography and filming. There is an option for you to opt out should you wish.
-

Our dancers also participate in many local community events and shows – as many as we can! Impulse Dance are in the process to training an elite troupe ready for competitions.
-
Do I have to pay for my child to be in the show? No, we do not charge a fee to be a part of our annual showcase, we do however ask for a small payment which goes towards your Childs costume.
